In addition to offering traditional flight training courses, SAFA also provides training opportunities for pilots that already hold an instrument rating and require, an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC), would simply like to improve their Instrument flying skills, or receive additional training to regain their confidence in flying under Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC).
The purpose of an Instrument Proficiency Check, per GACAR/FAR 61.57, is to provide for a regular assessment/ evaluation of pilots who have allowed their Instrument Rating to lapse in currency. The maneuvers and procedures listed in the current GACA Instrument Rating Practical Test Standards, for an Instrument Proficiency Check, are required to be covered to ensure an acceptable skill level, ensure confidence, technique, and above all else, safety.
The minimum training requirement for the IPC is based on the skill set and currency of the individual. Therefore, the Instrument Proficiency Check will be based on hourly pricing.
The total cost for an IPC will depend on the actual hours of flight and/or ground training used.
